IT Company
Working with this company they wanted to reward their distributors and internal staff who worked on a programme called Need for Speed. Linking this theme into fast cars it was decided that the Monaco GP would be too expensive to take the group of 32 people. We therefore looked at alternative options and it was decided that the Barcelona GP fitted in best with their desired dates. It was also a great destination as people were travelling from all over Europe to attend so offers good flight access.
Individuals arrived on Saturday morning and a lunch was hosted in the hotel prior to an afternoon training session for all attendees. To break up the meeting element before moving onto a traditional tapas dinner we organized for them to take a city tour on bicycles. Barcelonais a captivating city with incredible architecture and a fascinating history and so we split into two groups for a 120 minute tour. Sites included La Catedral, Gothic quarter, La Sagrada Familia (perhaps one of the most famous sites), Parc de la Ciutadella and the Port / Beach area where we stopped midway for snacks and refreshments.
Sunday was the BIG day and everyone on the trip was a real FI motor enthusiast. The hotel provided us with packed lunches and the group departed at 10am to get to the Circuit de Catalunya. Tickets were pre-purchased and we were located in stand K just after the start line overlooking 2 other bends as to catch all the action. With different attendees from all over Europe the bets were on as to who would win. The crowd went mad as Fernando Alonso came first over the start line but 66 laps later the Germans among our attendees went wild as Sebastian Vettel came in pole position. After lots of excitement, beer and a few sunburnt faces we boarded the coach back to the hotel in Barcelona.
Being the final night people went back to the hotel to refresh before pre-dinner drinks and a private dinner at Farga Gran Via. The great thing about Barcelona is there are great restaurants within walking distance of most hotels. This also meant after dinner those that wanted to go back could whilst we arranged for the rest of the group to go down to the Marina area for some drinks and dancing. Barcelona is a city that never sleeps and even on a Sunday night the group were partying into the early hours!
Monday morning saw the European departures with the Event Manager seeing everyone off from the hotel. It had been an action packed 2 days with all the elements the company needed to host their event: a meeting / some activity and the incentive of being at a great Grand Prix.
